United Church Women

    Women within the United Church have been forming UCW groups since the organization was formally inaugurated on January 1st, 1962 through the amalgamation of the Woman's Missionary Society (WMS) and the Woman's Association (WA).

Purpose

    The purpose of the UCW of the congregation or pastoral charge is to unite women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.

Membership

    Membership is open to any woman who is in sympathy with the Purpose and who is willing to contribute her prayers, gifts, and services for the work of the church in the world.

Functions

  1. To provide opportunities for fellowship and mutual support.
  2. To encourage growth in Christian understanding, faith and experience through worship, Bible study and involvement in other activities.
  3. To encourage informed participation in the mission of the Church in the congregation, the community, the nation and the world.
  4. To cultivate Christian stewardship in all of life.
  5. To share financially in supporting the national church through the Mission and Service Fund, in meeting the needs of the Congregation through the budget of the church, in sharing the expenses of the Presbyterial and Conference organizations of the United Church Women and in supporting community undertakings. 
  6. To encourage ecumenical understanding.
  7. To provide Christian understanding through Outreach Programs with Treats and Sunshine Boxes for Elder & Shut-In's of the congregation.

To unite the women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and to support and strengthen the work of the UCW in the local congregations of the Presbytery by providing opportunities for spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, and leadership development.

 

The UCW is always looking for new Members.

Volunteers are the staple of much of our Church's and the UCW is no different.

Please Spread the word and join the United Church Women. 

Meetings of the UCW

June 1st, 2009 - Brae UCW @ Bertha's at 7:30pm.

  • The Brae UCW hold their meeting the first Monday of every month.*

June 2nd, 2009 - Alice Turner UCW meeeting @ the G & E at 6:00pm

  • The O'Leary UCW hold their meeting the first Tuesday of every month.*

June 3rd , 2009 - Cape Wolfe UCW @ Church at 2:00pm.

  • The Cape Wolfe UCW hold their meeting the first Wednesday of every month.*

*All UCW Groups have meetings every month from September to June. July and August there are no meetings held.
